Table Soccer Seminar in Jordan

Introduction to table soccer basics and celebration of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace

About the project:
In collaboration with Peace & Sport, ITSF representative Gonçalo Dos Santos has trained about 10 inhabitants of the Zaatari refugee camp to the basics of table soccer during 2 days. Two Roberto Sport Revolution tables have been shipped to Jordan for the occasion. The tables will stay there for the use of the refugees.
The goal of this project is to create paid positions of educators, who will be in charge of developing daily table soccer activities in the camp. Given its inclusive nature, table soccer is accessible to all and easily brings people together. This is a wonderful way of entertainement regardless of gender, age or physical abilities.
On day 3, seminar participants had a first opportunity to apply their knowledge: tournaments and coaching sessions open for all where held in the camp. On the afternoon, Table Soccer (and also Table Tennis, Teqball, Kickboxing, Baseball5 & Cheerleading) activities where organised with more than 200 children as part of the Peace and Sport Live Together Program. At the end of the day, they went in the desert to hold up a giant #WhiteCard, symbolizing their wish to use sport as a tool for Peace.

About Zaatari camp:
With more than 80 000 residents, Zaatari is the world’s largest camp for Syrian refugees. It is located in Jordan and has become a permanent settlement for people fleeing war violences.
